The Goats of Roan
A herd of Angora goats spend each summer on the Roan Mountain Highlands alongside the Appalachian Trial chich runs along the border of Tennessee and North Carolina.
They spend their time grazing on the mountain balds at 5800'+ in elevation as part of the Baatany Goat project. The 10-year project is designed to determine if the goats can naturally control the spread of Canadian Blackberry and other invasive plants.
